Machinist / Mechanic in Bethel, CT
Our machine shop in Bethel, CT is seeking a versatile machinist for full time employment. Our company performs every aspect of the manufacturing process - engineering, design, production, assembly, installation, repair and maintenance. We need a qualified employee that can work in a dynamic, fast paced environment with a good attitude.
At least 3 years prior experience is required, preferably in a job shop/tool room setting. You will be expected to set up, operate, and produce machined parts according to blueprints/drawings. You will be expected to work independently while receiving instruction and assistance from your supervisor or coworkers when appropriate. Nearly everything we machine is a one-off part or done in small production numbers, so our employees must be able to problem solve and learn new skills to get the job done. We have a wide variety of manual and CNC equipment, but you MUST be proficient in the following areas:
- interpret drawings and blueprints
- setup and operate manual lathes, with 3 and 4 jaw chucks
- setup and operate Bridgeport-style vertical milling machines
- have a good understanding of conversational programming in 2 or 3 axis
- have a good understanding of fixturing
- have a good understanding of tooling
- have a good understanding of machine speeds/feeds
- be skilled is using precision measuring tools to check your work, such as dial indicators, micrometers, gauges, etc.
- experienced in using all basic hand tools
- basic machine maintenance and organization of the work area
You may be trained on a variety of other shop equipment, including: CNC waterjet, CNC milling machine, CAD/CAM systems, horizontal milling machine, TIG/MIG welding, press brake, surface grinder, hydraulic press, etc.
This is a full time 40 hr/week position, paid hourly. Overtime work is often available, and sometimes required. We occasionally work weekends.
$18-$28/hour depending on experience
